McLaren’s new venture, McLaren Golf, today announces its official launch alongside the introduction of its debut irons; the Series 1 and Series 3.

First unveiled in March, McLaren Golf represents a natural evolution of the brand’s high-performance mindset – translating decades of engineering expertise from motorsports and automotive design into the game of golf.

Built by a dedicated team of golf industry specialists and world-class engineers who have been immersed in McLaren’s ways, the new venture is focused on delivering precision equipment for golfers who share McLaren’s obsession with detail.

“We’ve been working toward this moment for some time and there’s a real sense of anticipation in seeing it all come to life,” said Neil Howie, CEO of McLaren Golf. “Behind the scenes, we challenged every part of the process – from materials to construction – to uphold the exacting standards and constant pursuit of excellence that define McLaren. To now introduce these irons to the world and see them in the hands of golfers is incredibly exciting.”

Engineering Without Limits

At the core of McLaren Golf is a question: If there were no constraints, no legacy processes, no material limitations – what could a golf club become?

In the irons category, McLaren Golf’s answer begins with Metal Injection Molding (MIM), an advanced and highly specialized manufacturing process rarely used at scale in golf due to its complexity and cost.

McLaren Golf utilizes MIM for precision control over material composition, internal geometry and mass distribution – unlocking a level of freedom not possible through traditional forging or casting. Every gram of weight, every structural element and every performance characteristic can be intentionally designed.

It is a granular process that aligns with the same philosophy McLaren applies to its supercars and race team: no detail too small, no gain too marginal.

Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, Chief Commercial Officer, McLaren Automotive said:

“McLaren Golf translates the precision and performance mindset that defines our brand into a new, relevant context. It’s a strategic extension of McLaren – designed for those who value performance, craftmanship and purpose.”

Series 1 – A Modern Tour Blade

The Series 1 is a Tour blade reimagined, engineered to challenge the assumption that true blades lack forgiveness. At address, it presents a clean, compact profile inspired by the classic muscle-back. However, beneath the surface, proprietary metal blends and precise internal weighting create a structure that enhances consistency and stability while preserving the pure feel elite players demand.

Designed in conjunction with McLaren Golf Tour player Justin Rose, and with input from other top Tour players, the proprietary metal composition, formed through the MIM process, is engineered to deliver the preferred sound and feel of a forged iron. MIM also opens the door for a unified internal weighting system that adds to the consistency, stability and overall function of the iron – effectively adding forgiveness to a blade without sacrificing workability.

Within the weight system, a significant area of tungsten is embedded within the back of the iron head to ensure a solid feel while also promoting consistent launch properties.

McLaren Structural Mesh is another defining element of Series 1’s architecture. The honeycomb-inspired pattern, also utilized on McLaren supercars, maintains rigidity and face strength while removing mass from non-critical areas. That saved weight is redistributed to provide perimeter stability, increase MOI (Moment of Inertia) and fine-tune CG (Center of Gravity), delivering added forgiveness while preserving a compact, Tour-trusted profile.

With dual-axis CG (both horizontal and vertical) uniquely optimized in each iron, Series 1 is designed for the skilled player who values shot-making above all else. We made this iron for the golfer who wants complete command of trajectory, spin and shape – and expects their equipment to respond without hesitation.

Series 3 – A Powerhouse Among Players Distance Irons

Featuring a powerful engine built around its Metal Injection Molded frame, Series 3 is a complete performance system. Internal weighting and carbon fiber elements work in unison, positioning the center of gravity with precision and stabilizing the club through impact.

The result is scintillating speed, responsive control and vibration-dampening feel.

Enabled by MIM, the internal geometry of each iron is precisely engineered to optimize weight distribution and performance throughout the set.

As with its Series 1 counterpart, a key innovation is the McLaren Structural Mesh – an intricate external architecture that redistributes mass away from non-critical areas while maintaining structural strength. This allows for increased stability and forgiveness, while preserving a clean, player-preferred profile.

Series 3 features a carbon-fiber bonnet along the back of the iron as an aesthetic nod to the brand’s racing and automotive heritage. However, this piece is about more than just looks and serves as a critical performance element. As an integrated component within the overall structure, it also impacts vibration management – refining sound and feel at impact while housing the unique calibration weight system.

Along the bottom, Series 3’s unique heel cut sole design generates speed through the ground and resistance-relief on imperfect strikes. Collectively, the sole geometry is engineered to reduce drag and control turf interaction through impact. Camber, leading edge curvature and heel cut relief work together to manage how the club enters and exits the ground – maintaining clubhead speed at the most critical stage of the swing.

“Our technology and manufacturing efficiencies, with both Series 1 and Series 3, allow us to start strong and immediately compete with industry front runners,” said Head of Engineering, Ryan Badgero. “It starts with Metal Injection Molding, which gives us complete control over material chemistry, geometry and mass distribution. That level of control allows us to design each iron as part of a system, where we have a vision and pre-determined goal that we’re able to engineer into reality.”

Both Series 1 and Series 3 irons will be priced at $375 USD / £360 GBP per club (in a stock configuration) and will initially be available in North America, Europe and South Korea through select custom fitting retailers starting from April 30, 2026 and online in North America at mclarengolf.com.

McLaren Golf is supported by 8AM Golf as a key partner, providing support and consultation through a variety of golf specific services. 8AM Golf is a holding company consisting of golf businesses and brands that are dedicated to helping golfers at every level enjoy the game more.

Team McLaren Golf

The brand’s initial roster of world-class athletes is a testament to the quality, performance and commitment of McLaren Golf. Justin Rose leads the charge and is joined by Michelle Wie West and Ian Poulter. They’re athletes who reflect McLaren Golf’s pursuit of excellence through precision, preparation and performance. All three are not just ambassadors for the brand, but investors, committed to the long-term success of McLaren Golf.

Rose, a major champion, Olympic gold medalist and winner of 27 global titles, brings a career defined by discipline, consistency and attention to detail, which aligns ideally with the core pillars of McLaren. Justin has been integral to the establishment of McLaren Golf for close to two years now, testing prototypes, guiding club development and acting as an advisor to the board. He will play the Series 1 irons beginning this week in Miami as he looks to continue an awe-inspiring run of form.

Another major champion, Wie West, is one of the most influential figures in modern golf. The U.S. Women’s Open Champion has always broken barriers and pushed boundaries and continues to do so with McLaren Golf as both a player and investor. Wie West’s resilience, individuality and longevity are a perfect match for the brand. She will play the Series 1 irons at the Mizuho Americas Open and the U.S. Women’s Open.

Ian Poulter, a former top five player in the world and Ryder Cup legend, has more than a dozen worldwide wins to his name. He’s known for his competitive edge and flair on the game’s biggest stages and adds a fearless presence and proven ability to deliver under pressure, as well as a deep-rooted passion for McLaren and motorsports. Poulter has been testing and preparing to put the Series 1 irons in play.

Launching in Miami

The official launch of McLaren Golf takes place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, adjacent to the Miami Grand Prix and the PGA Tour’s Miami event, a symbolic coming together of McLaren’s worlds.

Nick Martin, Co-Chief Commercial Officer, McLaren Racing said: “Miami provides the perfect stage for the launch of McLaren Golf, bringing the worlds of racing and elite golf together, at a defining moment for our brand. A powerful extension of who we are, McLaren Golf broadens our reach, deepens our relevance with fans, and reinforces our commitment to driving success at the highest level of global sport.”

PING Unveils New s259 Wedge Series https://ultragolfing.com/ping-unveils-new-s259-wedge-series/ https://ultragolfing.com/ping-unveils-new-s259-wedge-series/#respond Tue, 14 Apr 2026 00:43:32 +0000 https://ultragolfing.com/ping-unveils-new-s259-wedge-series/

PING has introduced the new s259 wedge series, its latest generation of tour-proven specialty wedges designed to deliver increased spin, control and versatility for golfers of all abilities.

Available for custom fitting and pre-sale now at authorised PING retailers worldwide, the s259 range features 25 loft and grind combinations across two finishes – Hydropearl 2.0 Chrome and Midnight – offering one of the most comprehensive wedge fitting line-ups on the market.

“The s259 wedges are already winning on Tour and continuing to find their way into players’ bags around the world,” said John K. Solheim, PING CEO & President.

“Players love the clean look, versatility and the ability to launch and spin shots with precise control.

We’ve refined our grinds and expanded loft options to help more golfers achieve proper gapping and improved short-game performance.”

Spin and Control Where It Matters Most

The s259 wedges feature wheel-cut grooves and a precision-machined face, combined with advanced face-blast technology to increase surface friction and maximise spin.

Higher-lofted models (54°–62°) use tightly spaced MicroMax grooves for enhanced greenside control, while 46°–52° wedges are optimised for consistency and distance control on full shots.

Extensive player testing has shown the wedges perform exceptionally well in both wet and dry conditions.

“Our wedge-face technology is designed to retain spin and control in real-world playing conditions,” added Solheim. “That consistency can provide a genuine short-game advantage.”

The Hydropearl 2.0 Chrome finish is hydrophobic, helping repel moisture at impact, while the Midnight finish offers a darker, anti-glare appearance (available exclusively in the SS grind).

PING continues its commitment to custom fitting with six distinct sole grinds (S, H, B, T, W and E), including refinements to the popular E and T grinds and the addition of new 50°W and 52°W options.

  • S Grind – Versatile mid-bounce option suited to a wide range of players and conditions

  • H Grind – Inspired by PING WRX, ideal for softer turf and steeper swings

  • B Grind – Low-bounce design for shallow attack angles and firmer conditions

  • T Grind – Lowest effective bounce for maximum versatility on tight lies

  • W Grind – Wide sole offering maximum forgiveness for steeper players

  • E Grind – Eye2-style sole for consistent performance from bunkers and tight lies

“Finding the correct sole grind is key to unlocking wedge performance,” said Solheim. “That’s why custom fitting is so important, whether you’re a tour professional or a club golfer.”

Updated WebFit Wedge App

PING has also updated its WebFit Wedge app, allowing golfers to quickly identify the best s259 wedge setup for their game.

The browser-based tool requires no download or registration and is accessible via QR code in pro shops and at ping.com.

New Dyla-Grip for Greater Shot Control

The s259 wedges are fitted with PING’s new Dyla-Grip, featuring subtle hand-placement indicators to assist with gripping down, shaft lean and face manipulation.

The grip is ¾-inch longer with a reduced taper, designed to enhance feel and control on finesse shots around the green.

Mizuno Expands Signature Series with the Pro S-1 Muscle Back Irons https://ultragolfing.com/mizuno-expands-signature-series-with-the-pro-s-1-muscle-back-irons/ https://ultragolfing.com/mizuno-expands-signature-series-with-the-pro-s-1-muscle-back-irons/#respond Tue, 17 Mar 2026 08:20:03 +0000 https://ultragolfing.com/mizuno-expands-signature-series-with-the-pro-s-1-muscle-back-irons/

Mizuno, renowned for its relentless pursuit of forging perfection, have  unveiled the Mizuno Pro S-1 irons—an exciting new addition to its celebrated Signature Series.

Crafted for the discerning player, the S-1 is a bold step forward in Mizuno’s mission to deliver precision engineering, peerless feel, and continuously refined performance.

TRADITION

The Mizuno Signature Series reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to producing meticulously designed clubs that balance tradition with the needs of the modern golfer.

The Mizuno Pro S-1 follows the introduction of the hugely popular Mizuno Pro S-3 irons in January, offering players another standout option within the family.

The Mizuno Pro S-1 irons are pure muscle backs, designed for players who demand ultimate precision and workability.

At the core of the Mizuno Pro S-1 is Mizuno’s Grain Flow Forged HD process, carefully executed in Hiroshima, Japan.

Forged from a single billet of 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel, the S-1 delivers the unmistakably soft and responsive feel through impact that Mizuno is globally known for.

The inclusion of a copper underlay further optimises this experience, subtly refining vibration patterns to produce the purest, most satisfying feedback.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Developed and tested with input from tour professionals, the S-1 incorporates a Channel Back Design that redistributes mass for greater vertical stability and a more consistent centre of gravity.

This design works seamlessly with Mizuno’s Harmonic Impact Technology, which fine-tunes the feel by adjusting the club’s vibration frequencies to deliver even more responsive feedback.

Building on Mizuno’s continuous drive for improvement, the S-1 introduces a re-engineered sole that has been precisely shaped to optimise turf interaction.

WHAT’S NEW

Compared to its predecessor, the Mizuno Pro 241, the S-1 sole features a flatter camber, a sharper leading edge, and an additional degree of bounce.

The result is a club that offers greater forgiveness for shallower attack angles while reducing the chance of digging—giving players the confidence to commit to every shot.

Visually, the S-1 has been crafted to appeal to the modern, competitive golfer. It features a compact, tour-preferred profile with a square toe design, a thin topline, and straight edges that convey discipline and purpose.

The Soft White Satin finish not only complements its sophisticated appearance but also serves to reduce glare at address.

ELITE

FootJoy updates the Premiere Series with new, lighter outsole https://ultragolfing.com/footjoy-updates-the-premiere-series-with-new-lighter-outsole/ https://ultragolfing.com/footjoy-updates-the-premiere-series-with-new-lighter-outsole/#respond Sat, 14 Mar 2026 03:59:50 +0000 https://ultragolfing.com/footjoy-updates-the-premiere-series-with-new-lighter-outsole/

The new Packard and Marquis for both men and women adds updated traction and comfort refinements in classic-looking leather designs.

FootJoy is updating one of the most recognizable silhouettes in golf footwear, and it’s doing so without abandoning what made the shoe popular in the first place.

The company has unveiled the 2026 Premiere Series, a refreshed lineup that blends traditional, dress-shoe styling with a series of performance upgrades aimed squarely at competitive players who want a high-performance, traditional shoe. According to Footjoy, Premiere Series models account for roughly 40 percent of shoes worn on the PGA Tour, and the new versions are built around feedback from Tour players and elite amateurs.

Shop new FJ Premiere golf shoes

The men’s lineup will feature the Premiere Series Packard and Marquis, while women will see updated Packard and Madison models. All four are constructed with hand-selected, full-grain leather uppers and detailed finishes that keep the classic wingtip and saddle aesthetics that have defined the franchise.

While the looks remain timeless, there are meaningful changes underfoot. Each model now features FootJoy’s new ARCTrax outsole technology, a spiked platform designed to deliver increased traction and stability in a range of conditions. The outsole uses an anti-channeling design and concentric flex elements intended to optimize ground interaction during the swing. Replaceable Pulsar LP cleats by SoftSpikes are standard across the line, so golfers will be able to refresh a significant level of traction anytime.

Comfort updates are just as prominent. The shoes incorporate a molded OrthoLite TruFit tongue system designed to help lock the foot in place, along with enhanced collar padding and soft leather linings for improved heel stability and underfoot cushioning. An OrthoLite EcoPlush FitBed and a Premiere EVA midsole provide firm, performance-oriented cushioning. Despite the added structure, the overall weight has been reduced compared to previously-released Premiere offerings.

On the men’s side, the Packard will be available beginning March 12 for $250, with the Marquis coming April 30 for $275. Women’s Packard ($225) and Madison ($250) both drop March 12. Like all the Premiere shoes before them, the 2026 footwear has a two-year waterproof warranty.

For players who prefer a traditional leather golf shoe but demand modern traction and stability,  the updated Premiere Series continues to be a solid choice. The styling remains rooted in FootJoy’s century-long shoemaking heritage, but the platform underneath is keeping up with the modern game and player preferences.

In a category that continues to trend toward sneaker-inspired designs, the Premiere Series remains firmly committed to the modern classic.

Team England have successfully retained the Icons Series Trophy after a thrilling finale at the 2026 Reignwood Icons of Football in Bangkok, Thailand.

In one of the most dramatic conclusions in the history of the event, England edged out Team World by 20 to 19 in the afternoon singles, capping off a day packed with tension, momentum swings and standout performances.

Sharpe Seals Glory on the Final Green

The tournament came down to the very last hole as Team World mounted an inspired fightback that wiped out England’s earlier advantage.

With everything on the line, it was former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe who delivered the decisive moment, holing a clutch putt on the final green to defeat Andriy Shevchenko and secure the winning point.

Sharpe described the moment as probably the best of his life, a fitting reaction to a putt that will live long in Icons Series folklore.

His victory proved the difference as Team England held firm under immense pressure to close out the contest.

England Hold Firm Under Pressure

While the spotlight fell on Sharpe’s heroics, the defending champions leaned on a series of vital singles wins throughout the session.

Phil Jones, Phil Jagielka, Joe Hart and Jermain Jenas all delivered crucial points to keep England ahead as Team World threw everything into the closing stages.

Captained by Danny Willett, Team England showcased resilience and composure against a formidable World side led by Thomas Bjorn and packed with footballing legends including Gareth Bale, Ruud Gullit, Ryan Giggs and Gianfranco Zola.
