Eight golfers have been selected for the Great Britain and Ireland team to compete against the United States of America in the 44th Curtis Cup match at Bel-Air Country Club in California.

The biennial encounter is taking place at the renowned Los Angeles venue from June 12-14, with GB&I bidding to retain the famous trophy after a memorable 10½-9½ victory at Sunningdale in 2024.

The top five players on the World Amateur Golf Ranking and three selections make up the GB&I side.

Beth Coulter and Patience Rhodes return to the team after playing key roles at Sunningdale, while Matthew’s side also includes Sophia Fullbrook, who has enjoyed three wins on the US college circuit with Florida State University this year, and teenager Nellie Ong, who has qualified for next month’s US Women’s Open at nearby Riviera on the eve of the Curtis Cup.

Catriona Matthew, who returns as captain with GB&I aiming for a first win on American soil since 1986, said: “I’m really looking forward to the match at Bel-Air. We have selected eight players who we believe will provide us with the best opportunity of retaining the Curtis Cup against the United States of America.

“With a number of players turning professional since the last match, we have a new, exciting team. In terms of the amateur rankings, we will be the underdogs but we also were at Sunningdale. It’s going to be a challenge, but in match play anyone can beat anyone and it’s just trying to instil that belief in my players.

“I’ve enjoyed my role as captain. It’s great fun to see the next generation come through, getting to know them and trying to help them. We are all preparing to give our best at Bel-Air next month.”

The GB&I team:

  • Beth Coulter, Ireland, Kirkistown Castle, 22
  • Sophia Fullbrook, England, The Melbourne Club, 20
  • Lily Hirst, England, Huddersfield, 23
  • Isla McDonald-O’Brien, England, Shrewsbury, 19
  • Charlotte Naughton, England, Longhirst Hall, 18
  • Nellie Ong, England, Eaton, 19
  • Patience Rhodes, England, Burnham & Berrow, 22
  • Davina Xanh, England, Burnham & Berrow, 22

Reserves
1. Annabel Peaford, England, Walton Heath, 17
2. Emma Fleming, Ireland, Elm Park, 21

Ace-man Moody lifts Berkshire Trophy – Golf News https://ultragolfing.com/ace-man-moody-lifts-berkshire-trophy-golf-news/ https://ultragolfing.com/ace-man-moody-lifts-berkshire-trophy-golf-news/#respond Mon, 18 May 2026 14:21:53 +0000 https://ultragolfing.com/ace-man-moody-lifts-berkshire-trophy-golf-news/

England Boys’ Squad star Aaron Moody enjoyed his first ever hole-in-one en route to winning The Berkshire Trophy.

The 17-year-old from Surrey enjoyed 21 birdies and four eagles over the course of the four-day tournament, to help him finish on 271 (-16), five shots ahead of his nearest competitor Cole Self.

The first two rounds of the 72-hole event were played over Berkshire Golf Club’s Red and Blue courses, with the final two founds played exclusively on the Red. A total of 162 players entered, with a half-way cut reducing the field to 49.

Moody, who fired rounds of 67,66, 68 and 70, said: “It’s unbelievable to get the win, but I was feeling confident coming into it as I’d had some good rounds of late. It’s definitely my biggest achievement to date.

“The putter got hot on the first day, and I played solid golf on the final morning and the hole-in-one on 10 this afternoon really helped.”

The Burhill golfer made his hole-in-one from 190 yards with a 7-iron on the par-3 10th, and admitted: “Sadly I lost the ball a few holes later!”

Asked about celebrations, he added: “I had a very nice cheeseburger and a coke to celebrate! But I’m now focusing on the Brabazon Trophy at Moortown this week.

“Although The Berkshire Trophy would be too big to fit in my bedroom, I get a lovely engraved silver salver which will fit nicely on my bedroom shelves.”

Horsham Golf to open new retail experience for women – Golf News https://ultragolfing.com/horsham-golf-to-open-new-retail-experience-for-women-golf-news/ https://ultragolfing.com/horsham-golf-to-open-new-retail-experience-for-women-golf-news/#respond Thu, 07 May 2026 06:31:43 +0000 https://ultragolfing.com/horsham-golf-to-open-new-retail-experience-for-women-golf-news/

Female golfers frustrated by a lack of choice and sizing options when it comes to buying golf apparel and footwear in the traditional golf club setting will be delighted to know that a new retail experience is opening in the south east later this month that is designed specifically to tackle these issues head on.

Horsham Golf in West Sussex has unveiled a new retail concept aimed at transforming the shopping experience for female golfers, with the launch of a dedicated boutique-style space called ‘edit’.

Located in a standalone building near the club’s main facilities, the new store – which officially open on May 23 – represents a shift away from the traditional pro shop model, offering a more relaxed, personalised environment tailored specifically to women.

With full-length mirrors, a changing room and collections arranged around colour coordinated outfits, edit offers a unique retail experience in a golf club setting

Open to both members and visitors, the space has been designed to feel welcoming and inclusive, catering to everyone from newcomers to experienced players.

The store features a curated selection of apparel, footwear and accessories from leading golf and sportswear brands, including Ping, Röhnisch, G/FORE, J.Lindeberg, Glenmuir, Adidas, Puma and Under Armour. The emphasis is on combining performance with style, while also ensuring consistency of fit – an area often highlighted as a challenge in women’s golf apparel.

A key feature of the edit concept is its focus on customer experience. Visitors can browse at their own pace in a calm setting, with access to expert advice from a female member of the retail team. The space also includes a dedicated changing area, reinforcing its boutique feel.

In a further departure from conventional golf retail, edit will be available for private bookings, as well as selected times for walk-in customers. Individuals or small groups of up to five can reserve exclusive access to the store, creating a more personalised and social shopping experience. Customers who pre-book will also receive a £10 voucher to use during their visit.

Many of the leading brands are represented, including spring/summer collections from PING, J.Lindeberg and Glenmuir, along with a wide range of fashion-forward footwear

Horsham Golf’s General Manager, Mike Yorke, said the initiative was driven by a clear gap in the market. He said: “The retail experience for female golfers has traditionally been limited and impersonal, yet the women’s game is growing rapidly. With edit, we wanted to create a warm, welcoming environment where women can browse leading brands in comfort, whether independently or with friends.”

The club, whose facilities include an 18-hole golf course, 9-hole par-3 course and a 16-bay covered driving range, hopes the concept will not only enhance its retail offering but also encourage more women to engage with the game in a comfortable and welcoming environment.

The official launch of edit will take place on Saturday, May 23, with the store open to all from 10am to 5pm.

To book your time in edit and to find out more, please contact Sophie Boyes on 01403 271525 or email sophie@horshamgolf.co.uk, or visit horshamgolf.co.uk

Jim Furyk to captain 2027 US Ryder Cup team – Golf News https://ultragolfing.com/jim-furyk-to-captain-2027-us-ryder-cup-team-golf-news/ https://ultragolfing.com/jim-furyk-to-captain-2027-us-ryder-cup-team-golf-news/#respond Mon, 27 Apr 2026 15:02:51 +0000 https://ultragolfing.com/jim-furyk-to-captain-2027-us-ryder-cup-team-golf-news/

As the US Team looks to bounce back after back-to-back defeats in Rome and New York, the PGA of America have turned to Furyk, who has plenty of experience both playing and serving as a captain at this tournament.

Furyk, who will be 57 by the time the matches come around next year, has been involved in every US Ryder Cup team for the past 30 years, and captained the team at the 2018 Ryder Cup in Paris, where his side were beaten 17.5-10.5.

“The opportunity to captain the US Ryder Cup team for a second time is a tremendous honour,” Furyk said. “I am deeply grateful to the PGA of America Ryder Cup committee for entrusting me to lead our team into the 46th Ryder Cup.

He added: “My passion for the Ryder Cup and dedication to the US team have never been stronger. Having previously captained the team, I understand the responsibilities and immense pride that come with this role. I look forward to drawing on that experience while incorporating some new ideas as we prepare for 2027.  I am committed to putting our players in the best position to succeed as we work to reclaim the Cup on European soil.”

Furyk’s opposite number, Luke Donald, will be bidding to become the first captain from either side to win three Ryder Cup matches in row, having led Europe to victory in 2023 and 2025.

Cowdray Golf Club has unveiled a raft of improvements to its driving range, raising the standard of practice facilities in line with the venue’s acclaimed short course and the recently refurbished golf studio.

As part of the refurbishment, the hitting bays have been reconfigured and landscaped, providing an additional bay alongside the studio.

The DryRainge cover, an all-weather driving range shelter, is next to the two bays behind the studio, which is available for lessons and custom fitting sessions.

Along with the aesthetic improvements, the range balls have also been replaced with premium two-piece, full-distance balls, further adding to the enhanced experience.

The enhanced outdoor hitting bays are supported by a standalone golf studio which looks out over the range

Tim Allen, Cowdray’s Director of Golf, said: “We are delighted with the improvements to the driving range, which have been welcomed by members and visitors alike. It is fantastic seeing golfers of all ages and abilities enjoying the great facilities that we offer including the Golf Studio, Par 3 course and short game area.

“We are determined to continue improving the standards and these improvements are reflective of how Cowdray has invested in the course and practice facilities in recent years.”

Cowdray Golf recently completed a £1 million improvement plan covering the main 18-hole course and practice areas, including reconstructed bunkers, pathways, and landscaping.

Worthing youngster aims to be top of the golfing tots! – Golf News https://ultragolfing.com/worthing-youngster-aims-to-be-top-of-the-golfing-tots-golf-news/ https://ultragolfing.com/worthing-youngster-aims-to-be-top-of-the-golfing-tots-golf-news/#respond Fri, 10 Apr 2026 03:53:38 +0000 https://ultragolfing.com/worthing-youngster-aims-to-be-top-of-the-golfing-tots-golf-news/

As part of an exclusive new series focusing on the next generation of young talent in the south-east, Golf News introduces James Herne, a three-year-old from West Sussex who is already attracting national attention for both his precocious talent and his sheer love of the game

While golf has seen its fair share of prodigies – Tiger Woods shot 48 on a 9-hole course aged three, and Rory McIlroy was filmed chipping balls into his mum’s washing machine on a TV show as a nine-year-old schoolboy – it is still pretty rare to find someone who has only just learned to walk demonstrating a preternatural talent for a sport as technically demanding as golf.

That is what makes James Herne’s story so compelling. The youngster from Worthing in West Sussex has only just celebrated his third birthday, but he is not only already able to swing a golf club with impressive consistency, but he’s already driving balls 40 yards down the fairway and registering ball speeds of more than 45mph on a simulator.

James is developing a consistent swing and is showing immense promise for someone so young

INSPIRED BY WATCHING THE PROS ON TV

The spark that ignited James’s love of the game was first lit watching golf on television while visiting his grandparents. James’s dad, who is also called James, remembers the moment clearly. “One day we were round my in-laws and they had the golf on the telly,” explains James Snr. “He was immediately drawn to the TV and started to mirror the swing of the golfers.”

From there, his interest only deepened. James’s grandfather, John Black, a keen golfer himself, first took him down to the putting green at the local club shortly after his first birthday and bought the youngster his first set of clubs.

“He was hitting the ball properly, even at that young age,” Black recalls. “Every time we ask him what he wants to do, he says he wants to play golf.”

Now a junior member at Worthing Golf Club in West Sussex – where he could well be the youngest member in the country – James practices three or four times a week on the range and out on the club’s par-3 course, where he regularly plays alongside kids two or three times his age.

Read all about it: James’s talent for the game has already been reported in the local press

KEEPING IT FUN

To help guide this early promise, James is being coached by former tour player, and Worthing Golf Club’s resident PGA Head Professional, Peter Tarver-Jones, who has introduced many young players to the game, but has never taught anyone quite so young.

Tarver-Jones, who joined Worthing when he was just 12, is unequivocal in his praise for his youngest ever pupil. “James’s enthusiasm and his understanding of the game are great,” he says. “Difficult things like his putting pace control – he’s got it. For such a young age, his co-ordination is exceptional. I’ve never heard of anyone as young as James doing this well. It’s really impressive.”

Despite the attention, both coach and family are determined to keep things in perspective. Tarver-Jones emphasises that the priority is enjoyment: “You just want to make sure he has fun and enjoys it at the moment. It’s not all about golf, we also working on his balance, jumping, agility, even throwing and catching. It all helps develop the physical skills and the co-ordination required to swing a club.”

James’s father echoes that sentiment. “There is no ‘Project Tiger Woods’ at work here – we’re just supporting a child doing what he loves. Initially, my wife and I thought his ability was normal, but then every time someone would see him, they would say ‘wow’.

“With kids these days everything now is with a mobile phone or a games console – but I’d like to keep him away from that for as long as possible. The main thing is that he enjoys it, it keeps him outside, and it keeps him loving golf.”

Whether James becomes a household name to rank alongside Tiger or Rory, or even matches the talents of home-grown Worthing Golf Club stars such as Marco Penge and Gary Evans, remains to be seen, but for now, his story encapsulates exactly what the Next Generation series hopes to celebrate: a genuine passion for the game, fostered in the right environment, and grounded in fun, family and fresh air.

WHO WILL WIN THE 90TH MASTERS? – Golf News https://ultragolfing.com/who-will-win-the-90th-masters-golf-news/ https://ultragolfing.com/who-will-win-the-90th-masters-golf-news/#respond Tue, 07 Apr 2026 14:58:22 +0000 https://ultragolfing.com/who-will-win-the-90th-masters-golf-news/

The Masters Tournament is more than just a golf event — it’s a rite of spring, a celebration of golfing tradition, and one of the most anticipated sporting occasions of the year.

As we enter Masters Week, the betting landscape is heating up, with punters and fans eager to place their wagers on who will slip into the coveted Green Jacket at Augusta National.

Held annually at the iconic Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, The Masters was founded in 1934 by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts. Since then, it has become the first major of the golfing calendar and arguably the most revered. From the pristine azalea-lined fairways to the legendary Amen Corner, Augusta’s setting is as much a part of the Masters mystique as its champions.

Betting on the Masters has long been a popular pastime, with markets ranging from outright winner and top-five finishes to more niche bets like hole-in-one props or leader after each round. The drama, the course’s unpredictability, and the star-studded field combine to make it a punter’s paradise.

PAST CHAMPIONS: LEGENDS OF THE GAME

Some of golf’s greatest names have triumphed at Augusta. Jack Nicklaus holds the record with six Masters titles, while Tiger Woods famously secured his fifth in 2019, cementing one of sport’s greatest comebacks.

More recent winners include Hideki Matsuyama (2021), Scottie Scheffler (2022/2024), Jon Rahm (2023), and last year’s champion, Rory McIlroy, who completed the major career grand slam in nerve-jangling style, each showcasing a mix of composure, strategy, and brilliance required to tame Augusta.

THE 2026 BETTING FAVOURITES

As the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club approaches, the betting landscape is taking shape with key players emerging as frontrunners. Defending champion Rory McIlroy leads the pack following his stirring and long-awaited victory 12 months ago. With the proverbial monkey now off his back, the Northern Irishman will be able to play without the added pressure, and a freewheeling approach may spur him onto to further major success.

His form coming into the event is nothing to write home about, but the 36-year-old is gearing his seasons around peaking for the major championships these days, so it would be no surprise to see him return to the form that made him such a force last year.

Two-time Masters champions Scottie Scheffler, who currently heads the betting market at 11/2, will be driving down Magnolia Lane with similar question marks over his current form, with the world no.1 having failed to add a ‘W’ to his CV this year, although three top-five finishes from six events still point to a player primed to raise his game on the world’s biggest stage this week.

Other notable contenders include 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm, who has been enjoying some good results on LIV Golf League this season, although it remains to be seen whether his move to LIV Golf will impact his effectiveness to compete in the major championship.

Big-hitting Ludvig Åberg is also drawing attention in the Masters betting markets, reflecting his rising prominence in the golf world and his great showing in his first visit to Augusta National in 2024, weeks here he finished second, and his seventh-place effort last year. His failure to register wins from promising positions this season may put some punters off from investing in the 26-year-old Swede, but he clearly has the game to thrive around Augusta’s twists and turns.

FINAL THOUGHTS

As always, betting on the Masters should come with a blend of passion and caution. Augusta is a course that rewards experience but isn’t afraid to yield to rising stars. Whether you’re backing a seasoned veteran or a breakout rookie, the 90th Masters promises high drama, unforgettable moments, and perhaps a big win for those who read the field just right.

Prematch vs Live Arbitrage Betting: main differences – Golf News https://ultragolfing.com/prematch-vs-live-arbitrage-betting-main-differences-golf-news/ https://ultragolfing.com/prematch-vs-live-arbitrage-betting-main-differences-golf-news/#respond Sat, 21 Mar 2026 20:03:53 +0000 https://ultragolfing.com/prematch-vs-live-arbitrage-betting-main-differences-golf-news/

Arbitrage betting continues to attract both beginners and experienced bettors because it allows profit regardless of the final result. However, not all arbitrage opportunities are the same.

The two main formats – Prematch and Live (in-play) arbitrage – differ significantly in execution, profitability, and risk level.

Let’s break down how they work and what makes each one unique.

Understanding Prematch and Live Arbitrage

Before comparing them, it’s important to define both types clearly:

Prematch arbitrage appears before a sporting event begins. All bets are placed ahead of kickoff (or the start of a fight, race, match, etc.).

Live arbitrage, also known as in-play arbitrage, arises while the event is already underway. Odds fluctuate dynamically based on what’s happening in real time.

Both methods rely on price discrepancies between bookmakers, but the way you approach them can be very different.

Prematch Arbitrage: Stability and Simplicity

Key Benefits

  1. a) Beginner-friendly format;
    b) Slower odds movement;
    c) Large selection of markets.

Prematch arbitrage is often the starting point for new bettors. Since odds do not shift as quickly as during live play, there is usually more time to calculate stakes and place all required bets (the “legs” of the arbitrage). By the way, many arb scanners have a built-in surebet calculator and a fractional to decimal odds converter that will surely help you in your work.

Another strong advantage is availability. Prematch opportunities exist across countless leagues, tournaments, and sports throughout the year, making it easier to diversify activity.

Drawbacks to Consider

  1. a) Typically smaller margins;
    b) Slower capital circulation;
    c) Greater visibility to bookmakers.

Prematch opportunities rarely exceed 8–10% profit margins. While steady, returns are often modest.

Additionally, since the event hasn’t started yet, you may need to wait hours – or even days – before funds are released and available for reinvestment.

Because these opportunities stay active longer, many bettors can exploit them simultaneously. This increases the likelihood of bookmakers detecting unusual betting patterns and potentially limiting accounts.

Live Arbitrage: Speed and Higher Returns

Advantages

– Stronger profit potential
– Faster bankroll turnover
– Less exposure to mass betting patterns

Live arbitrage often offers higher margins compared to prematch betting. Since odds react instantly to goals, fouls, injuries, or momentum shifts, pricing errors can create profitable gaps.

Another major advantage is speed of settlement. Results are known quickly, which allows funds to be reused sooner.

Live opportunities are also less likely to attract mass participation because they require fast reactions and constant monitoring.

Challenges

– Very short reaction time
– Rapid odds changes
– Rule discrepancies between bookmakers

Execution is the biggest challenge. Odds can change within seconds, and if one leg updates before the other is placed, the arbitrage may disappear.

Three-way markets (home/draw/away) are particularly demanding, since all outcomes must be covered immediately.

Another important factor is bookmaker’s rules. Some settle bets based on regular time only, while others include extra time or overtime. If these differences are overlooked, unexpected outcomes can occur.

For those interested in seeing the mechanics in action, the original document also references a worked example of arbitrage betting

The Role of Arbitrage Scanners

Manually searching for arbitrage is extremely time-consuming. Monitoring dozens – or hundreds – of bookmakers and calculating stake distribution by hand is impractical for serious bettors.

This is where professional scanners come in. It’s not always easy to choose the best arb betting software, but many rankings and forums will help you in this matter.

BetBurger Surebet Service

BetBurger is a well-known arbitrage scanning platform launched in 2013. It tracks odds across 600+ bookmakers and their mirror sites, covering more than 45 sports and hundreds of betting markets.

The platform identifies both Prematch and Live opportunities in real time, often updating data multiple times per second. Typical profit margins range between 2% and 15%, depending on market conditions.

Key features include:

  • Advanced filtering tools
  • Event grouping
  • Automatic stake calculation
  • Bankroll tracking
  • Alerts for potential rule conflicts
  • Additional tools like a 2 team parlay payout calculator

Prematch mode offers stability and is easier for newcomers, while Live mode provides more dynamic and potentially higher-yield options for experienced users.

Conclusion

Prematch and Live arbitrage strategies each have their own strengths.

Prematch betting offers structure, predictability, and a comfortable learning environment. Live arbitrage delivers speed, higher margins, and rapid capital turnover – but demands precision and fast execution.

Ultimately, your choice depends on experience level, risk tolerance, and available time. Regardless of strategy, using a reliable arbitrage scanner dramatically improves efficiency compared to manual line comparison.

In arbitrage betting, speed and accuracy are everything – and the right tools make all the difference.

Kabaddi Demands Greater Tactical Awareness Than Commonly Recognized – Golf News https://ultragolfing.com/kabaddi-demands-greater-tactical-awareness-than-commonly-recognized-golf-news/ https://ultragolfing.com/kabaddi-demands-greater-tactical-awareness-than-commonly-recognized-golf-news/#respond Fri, 20 Mar 2026 17:07:01 +0000 https://ultragolfing.com/kabaddi-demands-greater-tactical-awareness-than-commonly-recognized-golf-news/

Appearing at first glance like mere wrestling with rules, kabaddi hides surprising depth beneath its rough exterior. Not often recognized by newcomers, the mental aspect shapes every raid and defense just as power does. Though basic in outline – two teams, one raider, constant motion – the real action unfolds in split-second reads and group coordination.

Deceptively minimal equipment or setup masks how precisely players must work together. Strategy seeps into each breath, step, movement. Strength matters, certainly – but so does knowing when to hesitate, then strike.

Professional leagues, especially India’s Pro Kabaddi League, have lifted the sport into sharper public view while stirring stronger interest in regional wagering. Match stats and lineup choices now draw close scrutiny, much like what happens with cricket or football followers. Those looking up the trustworthy betting app in Pakistan to engage with Kabaddi odds encounter markets shaped by real strategic nuance. Success often goes to people recognizing how defenses shift and raiders adapt, not just fans of teams seen as strongest on sheer power.

The Hidden Patterns in Raids and Defences

One moment in a kabaddi raid might seem spontaneous to someone watching, yet behind that move lies careful strategy carried out fast. Before stepping forward, raiders observe how defenders position themselves, searching for gaps in their linked structure while mapping paths to break free. Success depends not just on speed or strength, but equally on quick thinking shaped by preparation. What appears impulsive unfolds through practiced decisions made in seconds.

Because defensive coordinators study raider tendencies, they reshape formations – moving chains or shifting corners – to disrupt expected patterns. When squads engage through platforms featuring a Melbet promo code for Kabaddi wagering, fluctuations in odds frequently follow relocations of pivotal defenders, showing sharp punters monitor strategy like athlete form. Insight into such tweaks draws a line between passive watchers and those who truly grasp Kabaddi’s depth.

What Shapes Kabaddi Results

Kabaddi tactics operate across several interconnected dimensions that collectively determine which team controls a match:

  • Chain defence coordination: Defenders must communicate and link simultaneously, requiring precise timing that collapses entirely without collective awareness.
  • Raider pattern variation: Alternating between aggressive bonus-point attempts and conservative touch raids keeps defences uncertain and reactive.
  • Super tackle timing: Executing a high-risk tackle at the right moment can swing momentum dramatically, making timing a genuine strategic weapon.

All these factors together form a tactical game where preparation and wit are equally important as physical strength.

How Coaches Build Tactical Kabaddi Systems

Coaching in Kabaddi today demands deep planning, focused less on star players and more on structured team play. Because rivals show repeating moves, smart teams study footage to expose weak spots in defence. Once flaws emerge, responses take shape through drills shaped by those findings. Since big leagues arrived – with money and cameras – the pace of strategic growth jumped fast.

Tactical Element Offensive Application Defensive Counter
Corner positioning Exploiting wide defensive gaps Narrowing angles to limit escape routes
Bonus line awareness Targeting easy points to build lead Retreating formation to deny bonus attempts
Fatigue management Timing raids to target tiring defenders Rotating positions to maintain collective energy

Coaches who design creative tactics according to their players’ skills and competition context make a strong difference. The same applies in many ways to our efforts in our professional or personal lives; a good plan or alternative to existing playbooks can be a potent competitive advantage that leads to outperformance versus rivals in the same field.

How Tactical Preparation Gives Kabaddi Teams an Edge

Success in high-level kabaddi relies more on finesse than pure power. It’s less about raw contact and speed and more about smart preparation. Winning teams are those with preparation in all areas – set plays on offense, coordinated team defense, and plans on how to exploit weaknesses. Unfit teams will always lose to fit teams, which is why the team with the most power is not guaranteed to win. The game is fluid, and most teams go the game without the necessary preparation. Stupid moves and unplanned strategies will always be punished. Both mental and physical work is necessary for the desired success.

As the Professional Kabaddi League expands in South Asia, more complex and layered strategies will be used. Most see the game in terms of physical clashes, but the most successful move thinkers are the ones who see planning. The game rewards those who study and look for the layers beneath the physical clashes. The game is more rewarding than most people believe, and the real prize is the success which lie below the surface.
